Online Poker FAQ

What makes a online poker room reputable?

The theme and look of a casino all depends on your taste - perhaps you like the Bright lights look of The Strip in Vegas, or the glamour of the silver screen... the choice is yours!

These days gamblers are spoilt for choice when it comes to gambling online, but with more than 20,000 Online Casinos to choose from, how do you know which is best for you?

We have compiled a checklist to make it a little easier on you:

Is it a reputable casino I am dealing with, and how can I tell?

    Are they licensed?

Check the website to see if the logo of the licensor is clearly displayed. Check to see whether the logo of a trusted software supplier is displayed. The more reputable software suppliers include MicroGaming, Boss Media, and Cryptologic - among others.

Are their Payout percentages reviewed on a monthly basis by an independent third party?

Are these certificates made available on the website? A trusted logo to look for is PriceWaterhouse.

How easy is it to contact the Casino Support Staff?

The more options available to you, the better. I'd be more than a little wary, NO - I'd avoid them completely, if they only provide an E-Mail address. The better casinos offer a 24-hour support service, every day of the year. You should be able to contact them via E-mail and Toll free lines at the very least. Some Casinos also provide a 'Live Chat' facility and a Call Back service, where they will call you, once you have provided your contact details via a form on their website.

A good idea would be to test the response times of the casino support staff, via Email and Toll Free line. The support staff should be courteous, knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions you may have.

    Lets talk about money!

How easy is it for you to purchase casino credits, and how long will it take before you can start playing? The better casinos tend to be more accommodating, and provide several convenient methods for you to use to purchase at the casino.

How easy is it for you to receive your winnings?

How long will it take for the money to reach you, and are you given a choice as to how you would like to receive your money?

Will you be rewarded for your choice?

Good casinos realize just how important it is to keep you happy. Are you offered a sign up bonus - be it a free money offer, or a bonus where they match a percentage of your purchase when you join? Do they offer ongoing promotions for existing customers? Do they have a loyalty program in place where you get rewarded for playing?

Do they offer a good selection of your favorite casino games?

As far as we're concerned, the more the merrier! Many casinos show previews of their games, which gives you a good idea of the look of the games, and the quality of the graphics.

Are you able to try out their software for free, with no obligation to become a real money player?

You should be able to play as a guest player for as long as you like with no obligation to play for real money. This also gives you the opportunity to try out their software, and see if you enjoy the games, without the risk. The only difference between playing as a guest player and playing as a real player should be the chance of winning real money. The software should remain the same.

    Do they offer Progressive games?

This is one of my personal preferences, and may not be applicable if you are solely a BlackJack player, but I like the idea of Progressive Slots, where the jackpots are usually much bigger than the standard slots.

    Are your details secure?

Do they have a privacy policy? Do they have an Anti-Spam policy in place?

    How safe are your transactions?

You need to verify that the casino has your security at heart. Do they make use of SSL digital encryption to secure your transactions over the World Wide Web? Don't settle for less than 128 bit encryption.
